How long did superman live

Did humanity perish and leave Superman's family to join an alien civilization? Did humanity spread to the stars just one billion years into the future, as Superman may imply? Questions that King's story never addresses, and never needs to address to get his message across.

That no matter what, nothing can really kill Superman. He will go on protecting the universe for billions of years, and raise a son to do the same beside him.

And as proof that Lois and Clark's is a love story for the ages, the intrepid reporter would find a way to stay at Superman and her son's side. While delivering the news to an entire universe. And as this story shows, Superman will go on missing his parents every day into infinity - until they find rest, in this world if not the next. Plenty of comic book fans will be picking up Action Comics to see what's next in Superman's story.

But DC was right to show off this look at the ending of Superman's life, love, and legacy Clearly someone wanted his return to be a grand reveal. But the lead-up to Justice League undermined that goal at almost every turn. Cavill joined the rest of the cast on press tours, where his supposed non-role in the film was a running joke. He carries obvious physical and emotional scars from the wounds that killed him.

Never mind, as my colleague Tasha Robinson has pointed out , the boxes quite literally had thousands of years before Superman was around to do this.

But that means the entire years-long ploy is just a lazy writing shortcut to kickstart the events of the film. A movie where Superman is around to help throw down against Steppenwolf from the start would have been a lot shorter and duller.

Obviously, there has to be some sort of surprise in movies like Justice League. But the takeaway from this entire Superman saga should be that if studios are going to aim for surprise reveals, they need to make the effort to actually keep the secret, and ensure that whatever is unveiled is worth it.

Assuming Superman doesn't die in battle, and lives out his life under the effects of our yellow sun, what is his expected lifespan? Has DC Comics ever provided or suggested an answer?

By this time, Superman has lived in self-imposed exile within the Fortress for over 15, years. In the Kingdom Come Epilogue he seems destined to live for a little more than years.

In the epilogue, Superman is shown to have survived years after his return, and as an old man, he watches the fly-pass of the future generation of superheroes. In the Batman Beyond episode "The Call" the 50 years in the future Superman is shown to have grey highlights in his hair, suggesting that he may only live to be or so. Superman: You'll outlive all of us Bruce, you're too stubborn to die. In the TV series Smallville in the third season a highschool kid who has the power to see people's deaths touches Clark Kent and sees him just traveling on forever.

The implication is that in the Smallville universe Superman will never die. Paperjam makes the point that Superman may die as soon as the Sun transforms into a Red Giant.

Superman could ultimately leave to a different yellow star if his intention is really to live forever. I can't find any canon sources which states his actual lifespan under the yellow sun, but in the comic story "DC One Million", Superman was shown to be alive in the year 85, So he could live at least that long. Actually in Smallville it was mentioned, when Clark meets Dr. Fate and Dr. Fate says he will outlive everybody.

And I'm pretty sure with the boy, it literally meant Clark will live forever. Plus, there was that future thing where Clark sees his future from that old lady. How Superman dies is actually pretty simple: A mysterious and terrible monster known only as Doomsday arrives on Earth, with the apparent goal of nothing but destroying everything in his path.

He dispatches the entire Justice League in minutes, punching Booster Gold so hard he flies into space. Superman is the only force on Earth that can slow him down, and as the monster carves a swathe of destruction pointing directly to Metropolis, their showdown becomes inevitable.

The two meet in the middle of the city, and with a mighty simultaneous punch that shatters windows for blocks around they battle each other into mutual defeat. Two turned out to be villains, and two were good guys after all. One of them helped Superman resurrect himself in a very complicated and comic book-y way. This Superman with granny shades here?
