While many of the story details remain the same, there are details of the way they met and the interactions between them that subtly change the sense fans have of their relationship and affect how they appear as a couple on the page.
Usagi and Mamoru are teenagers, and in the anime, the focus is really on the magical girl aspect of the series, making it more appropriate for children. This happens in the anime as well, but it happens even more often in the manga. Mamoru is often the target of brainwashing attempts and kidnapping schemes.
This is partial to keep the focus on the girls so they can rescue him. But it definitely helps that Sailor Moon is so attached to Tuxedo Mask. This gives her a very personal reason to want to defeat the bad guy and get her lover back to safety. Not long after, Usagi comments after kissing Mamoru in her wedding dress, and he in a formal tuxedo that she can feel Chibiusa growing inside her. In the anime, Mamoru gives Usagi a ring prior to his departure to attend school in America; Usagi never gets the chance to question him about what sort of ring it is, even though he placed it on her left hand's ring finger.
Usagi narrates very similarly to how she did in the very first episode: that she is 16 years old, a bit clumsy and a crybaby, but she's also the Champion of Love Justice, Sailor Moon. She and Mamoru kiss under a full moon, and the ending credits roll.
Mamoru gives Usagi the ring in Episode If you don't know who that is, he's the guy that calls Usagi Dumpling Head. Rini is the daughter of Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon from the future. In the last act of the Japanese manga, a naked Usagi and Mamoru are shown waking up in the same bed, and are later shown marrying. Usagi tells Mamoru that she can feel their future daughter Chibiusa growing inside her, implying she and Mamoru not only shared a bed, but also had sex.
In an earlier chapter, however, there is an implication that she may have had sex with Mamoru. They began dating in Japanese episode 15, and though they never had an explicit breakup, were only seen dating on occasion, usually much to Usagi's chagrin. Once their secret identities were revealed, Rei told Usagi she wanted her to be happy with Darien, indicating Rei's acquiescence to Usagi and Mamoru's inevitable relationship.
Usagi and Mamoru never actually dated during the first season, due to his getting brainwashed by Queen Beryl and then losing his memories along with all the other Sailor Senshi until the end of the first part of the second season.
In the anime, she finds out in Episode 34 30 in the dub of the first season, titled "The Sparkling Silver Crystal! Zoisite betrays Mamoru when Kunzite Malachite in the dub takes the crystals from the center of the floor and disappears with them, leaving Mamoru to fight Zoisite, while Usagi, unconscious and unaware of Mamoru's duel identity as Tuxedo Mask, lying behind Mamoru.
Zoisite traps Usagi and Mamoru in an elevator and sends down a fireball, intending to tell Queen Beryl that Mamoru died in an accident, but Usagi transforms into Sailor Moon and saves them both. However, Mamoru insists on continuing his duel with Zoisite despite the missing crystals, and Zoisite takes the opportunity to exact revenge on them both by aiming a large crystal at Sailor Moon's back.
Mamoru, having revealed his identity as Tuxedo Mask, notices before Sailor Moon, and takes the fatal blow for her. In grief, Sailor Moon cries a single tear that becomes the Silver Crystal. Sailor moon likes Mamoru Tuxedo Mask. In the manga, it's strongly implied that Usagi is pregnant prior to her wedding in the 30th century, after the Galaxy Cauldron has been reset. The opening scene of the very last few pages shows Usagi and Mamoru waking up in bed naked together.
Serena Usagi Tsukino and Darien Mamoru Chiba are not actually seen getting married in the animated series. In the second part of the Sailor Moon R arc, Darien has nightmares of him and Serena getting married, but Serena appears to die before the ceremony is complete.
This prompts him to break up with Serena, believing that their relationship will put her in danger. In the final arc of the Sailor Moon animated series, Sailor Moon Sailor Stars which was never dubbed into English Mamoru proposes to Usagi by giving her a ring shortly before he departs for study abroad in the United States.
In the final episode, they are reunited and kiss under the backdrop of a full moon, but Usagi's voiceover indicates she is still just 16 years old.
Sailor Moon awakens as the Moon Princess and all their memories during the Silver Millennium are revived. Kunzite then captures Tuxedo Mask and disappears. After that incident, Usagi frequently wakes up from nightmares of him with tears in her eyes.
Mamoru later returns, brainwashed as a servant of the Dark Kingdom. He also brainwashes Motoki into thinking he is his friend Endo. Usagi gets knocked over by Endo in the street. Though she only sees his back, she notes that he looks just like Mamoru. Then Usagi and her friends go to Ami's to discuss their next actions, but Usagi falls asleep.
She wakes up feeling sad, and wants to go play the Sailor V game. She sneaks out unnoticed and feels like she's being drawn to the game center. There, she meets Endo, shich from his introduction Usagi deduces isn't Mamoru, but she still thinks everything about him is like Mamoru. Endo tries to pry information about Sailor V, Sailor Moon and the underground command center, but eventually Usagi just runs away.
Makoto attempts to confront Endo, but falls under his brainwashing and calls everyone to the command center. Tuxedo Mask then appears and attacks the command centre. It takes Luna getting gravely injured for Usagi to decide to transform. Venus manages to kill Beryl there, but falls unconscious. Tuxedo Mask picks her up, and Sailor Moon chases after them.
After being battered by Tuxedo Mask, she feels she can't bear to see Mamoru act like this anymore, and stabs herself with Venus's sword. The Silver Crystal forms a casing around them, which is absorbed by Metalia. Usagi awakens to find that the sword caught on Mamoru's pocket watch.
Tuxedo Mask gives Sailor Moon more strength, and she seals Metalia away. Luna asks Usagi to come the moon, so Mamoru and Usagi combine their power to travel there. Usagi is given a new brooch that will give her more power. She transforms and uses "Moon Healing Escalation" to turn the Earth completely back to normal.
After school, Usagi meets with Mamoru. She gives him back his pocket watch, which she had restored. The two kiss, when some child falls from the sky and knocks Usagi away.
She is enraged and wants to know who that is clinging onto her Mamo-chan. After scaring them with a toy gun and demanding for the Legendary Silver Crystal, the child, nicknamed Chibiusa, runs away.
Chibiusa brainwashes Usagi's family and stays at their house. Over the course of the arc, Usagi gets into fights with Mamoru over Chibiusa, and Usagi finds herself fighting for Mamoru's attention. Eventually Usagi and Mamoru come to an understanding and make up. Chibiusa takes Usagi and Mamoru to the 30th century, where they learn that Chibiusa is the couple's future child. Despite that, Usagi still finds herself jealous of Chibiusa and thinks that she is more important to Mamoru than herself.
After Chibiusa goes missing, they return to the future to look for her. While captured, Usagi becomes upset by the fact that she was just kissed by someone other than Mamoru, and reflects on the way she treated him just before they were separated. Endymion attacks Sailor Moon with the rod they created by both their powers, and she is shocked. Endymion grabs the brooch of Sailor Moon's bow, but then her joyful spirit dances around him for a moment, causing him to stop blankly.
Tuxedo Mask turns back to normal and he and Sailor Moon combine their powers with the rod to kill Prince Demande. Then Sailor Moon attacks Death Phantom and seems to disappear. Tuxedo Mask suddenly teleports to Sailor Moon's location. Tuxedo Mask gives Sailor Moon an encouraging speech, and she tells him she can actually only activate the Legendary Silver Crystal in the presence of his power.
The two kiss and create an extrodinary power, that helps Sailor Moon to defeat Death Phantom. After the lot has been resolved, Chibiusa returns to the 30th century, and Usagi and Mamoru sit on the park bench and talk about the adventures they just had.
The two kiss once more as the arc ends. This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it. Usagi and Mamoru go to see Chibiusa off to the 30th century. It happens to be a rare total solar eclipse that day, so the three watch it together. Afterards, they realize it's much to crowded to send Chibiusa back, so they look around Juban for a bit. Chibiusa and Usagi coerce Mamoru into buying them kaleidescopes, and then letting them stay overnight at his place.
While they're sleeping, Usagi and Mamoru both have a dream of Chibiusa playing with a pegasus. Mamoru then gets a pain in his chest, and Usagi worridley asks if he's in pain. Mamoru tries to pretend its nothing serious, but Usagi is concerned. Later, Mamoru gets sick and collapses, and while Usagi and Chibiusa and trying to help him, they are hit by an enemy's attack and their body proportions switch.
